What a Load of Rubbish

Residents of Sandyford & Goldenhill must make the most of their “Bulk Waste Collection” west of the area next Saturday (4th December) because it may be the last. The following from the City Council says all public sector organisations are experiencing financial pressures and are having to plan to make significant cuts. In response, the City Council launched the budget consultation on 1st November 2010, available on the Council’s website. As a result, the provision of the Pride In Our City (PIOC) collection service has been identified as a potential saving as part of the Council’s budgetary cuts. This proposal is considered regrettable but justifiable in that PIOC is a discretionary service, and the Council does provide disposal options for bulky waste.
What do local residents think about the possible loss of this invaluable service?
