Goldenhill Celebrates it’s 2019 Annual Fun Day

Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.) attracts hundreds of visitors to its Annual Goldenhill Fun Day last Saturday which first started in 2007.

This year the event introduced the YMCA GO! Youth Project who gave an excellent show, and provided games, activities, balloon modelling, face painting, glitter tattoos, a life-size minion mascot as well as arts & crafts for the many younger children who enjoyed the undercover activity in the community centre. The event also provided the ever popular “Total Wipeout” as well as having a Tractor Road Train”, which took visitors around Goldenhill, taking in the views across to Newchapel and Mow Cop Castle.

Event organisers invited Councillor Chandra Kanneganti to officially open the day. Tom Simpson, Secretary of S.A.G.E. and Chandra shared positive comments on how a residents association and the local councillor can complement each other to help better the environment, and support residents in the communities of Sandyford & Goldenhill.

Also at the event was Paul Warwick’s Fair Rides and stalls, 27ft High Climbing Wall, Bouncy Castles, and much needed help and support from Sandyford McDonald’s.

Special thanks go to Churchill China for sponsoring the event, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, Dance Music Live & not forgetting Goldenhill & Tunstall Scouts who provided many activities for the young people.

This year the event again attracted 30 plus Table Top Market Street Stalls, which were all undercover, and gave the occasion that special purchasing/browsing opportunity that shoppers really enjoy year after year as well as many refreshments served in our community centre lounge.

Our thanks go to everyone who took part on the day, including all volunteers who gave up their time to make the event a very special day.
