An army of 60 LoveStoke volunteers brought the sunshine to Goldenhill, as they gave a tired looking play area in Rodgers Street a whole new lease of life!
The weather was fantastic and the attitude and endeavour of all the volunteers more than matched this, volunteers scraped and painted and litter picked their way to transforming this area of the city!
Love Stoke went onto thank:
- Stoke on Trent City Council for nominating the project & supplying some of the materials
- Local Labour City Councillor Martin Garner for Goldenhill & Sandyford his support & also helping to fund some of the materials
- Goldenhill & Tunstall Scouts for providing refreshments & hot dogs at the event, really appreciated!
- Goldenhill Working Men’s Club who kindly agreed to let them use a section of their car park, and their toilet facilities during the project
- Matt Burke from www.mytunstall.co.uk & Tom Simpson from Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents’ Association (SAGE) for helping to publicise the event
- BBC Radio Stoke for interviewing in the morning prior to the event
- The Sentinel for covering the event and a very positive article!
Massive thanks went to all of the amazing volunteers who gave up their Saturday to make a difference; they created a great atmosphere and ultimately finished the project to an excellent standard! The play area looks so much better and has already been noticed by the local community … give yourselves a pat on the back, very well done!!
