Local Cricketer Ken Higgs sadly passed away on Monday aged 79 at a Leamington Spa hospital.
Ken who was born in Kidsgrove on the 14th January 1937 was an English fast-medium bowler, who was most successful as the opening partner to Brian Statham with Lancashire in the 1960’s. He later played with success for Leicestershire.
In Ken’s later year’s he coached both Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire as well as umpiring several Second XI fixtures.
It is locally presumed that Ken would have played at Sandyford Cricket Club, and if anyone can verify this story then please add your comments.
