Why is the Post Box in Goldenhill to be Solar Powered

The post box in Goldenhill next to the Londis/Post Office has a sign saying “Out of Service, Automated System Coming Soon”.

Royal Mail say it has unveiled its “postbox of the future” that is solar-powered, has a built-in barcode reader and a large hatch that can accept parcels bigger than letterbox size.

The Londis/Post Office on High Street, Goldenhill have confirmed that residents wishing to post letters can still do so by taking them inside the store.
