Road Closure Works Cancelled For High Street Tunstall, Sandyford & Goldenhill

Roadworks planned to start this week from tomorrow 13th November have been cancelled due to a plant breakdown which lays down tarmac.

Works to close down the High Street From Tunstall to Goldenhill will commence from Monday 17th November for a 5 day period.

17th, 18th & 19th November, High Street will be closed to traffic from Sandyford’s KFC roundabout to Goldenhill’s Woodstock Street/Kidsgrove Road between 8.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m.

20th & 21st November, High Street will be closed to traffic from The Haymarket to Sandyford’s KFC roundabout between 8.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m.

The reason for extensive roadworks is to patch and repair potholes, as well as iron works which involve drains and manholes. The work also includes replacing road markings throughout the road network as well.

The contractor advised that access to properties and estates will continue whilst the work is being carried out, although delays are possible and alternative routes will be made available during the work period.

The contractor realises the closing of a major road network will inconvenience many drivers who use the A50, but said it will do its best to keep disruption to a minimum.

Councillor Chandra Kanneganti and Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association believe once the road works are completed that it will make driving through our area a better experience for all concerned.
