Sandyford “Reinstated Yellow Box Junction”

A yellow box junction is to be reinstated at the entrance to Shelford Road from High Street next to the One Stop Shop in Sandyford.

Approximately 10 years ago, when the High Street was resurfaced, the box junction was never put back, which was there to keep the entrance/exit to Shelford Road more free-flowing to traffic, especially at busy times of the day.

Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association contacted Council Highways with support from Councillor Chandra Kanneganti to reinstate the yellow box junction, whilst the contractor is replacing road markings as well as repairs to the High Street this week.

Our personal thanks go to Council Highways for agreeing to our request, especially with it being last-minute, as well as their understanding to try and improve the flow of traffic, even if it is in a small way.

Good idea BUT WANT SPEED BUMPS ON HIGH STREET GOLDENHILL TO SLOW THE SPEEDERS DOWN BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED

Unfortunately, they won’t place speed bumps on busy A roads. Anyway when all the proposed new homes are built in the area and an additional 2,500 vehicles using our roads they will be lucky to reach speeds of 20 mph.
