The new Sandyford Fire Station offers a bright and modern outlook to fire safety. The community room is also an excellent facility for the local community to use with it being free of charge and it having ample space for small groups. Upon visiting the stations gym Tom Simpson & Les Dutton from S.A.G.E. said that it was smaller than first thought and its use to the community would possibly be limited to e.g. residents who have been referred by their G.P.
The car park at Elgood Lane Goldenhill has had an uplift. The City Council has agreed with its residents to have the the pot holes filled in and to have the ground leveled off, which in turn has made the ground better for people to park their vehicles on.
On Saturday 21st August S.A.G.E. will be celebrating its Goldenhill Centenary Federation Fun Day from 12.00 noon to 4.00 p.m.
The event is to be held at Goldenhill Community Centre where there will be a variety of attractions including visits from the emergency services as well as live entertainment, stalls and much more.
Join us on our walk to fitness day where the residents association is celebrating the 100 years federation of the six towns.
Walkers will meet outside the Mace Shop at 2.00 p.m. on Sunday 18th April in Shelford Road, Sandyford. The walk will take approximately one hour and we will be doing our bit for the environment by collecting litter on the way and on our return McDonald’s will be offering walkers food from their healthy eating menu.
There is £1,000.00 to be spent in Goldenhill on the green outside Heathfield Court, Goldenhill. The area has been chosen, as it seems to be a good gateway location into the city.
The idea is to spend £1,000.00 on shrubs and planting and the environmental team will be drawing up the design as it is envisaged to be a sweeping curve with different shrubs and lavenders so it looks nice and smells good too.
The environmental team will be there on Sunday 11th April 2010 delivering the plants and helping with the design and they would like volunteers to help with the planting. There is the possibility of the local press being there on the day and if anyone would be interested in coming along and offering their services then please let us know.
Councillor Megan Ryan has reported that work is to commence on the car park at Elgood Lane, Goldenhill in regards to improving the amenity.
The ground is to have the pot holes filled in and the land compacted out. S.A.G.E. has also been advised that the area is to receive environmental improvements and better signage.
