Litter dropping and fly tipping have been reported in the Hollywall Lane area of Sandyford.
At the S.A.G.E. committee meeting, which was held earlier in the week it was said that there is litter spreading from the farm at the top of the lane to Chatterley Road at the bottom.
It was also reported at the meeting that there is asbestos piping, which has been fly tipped at the side of the lane, which gives the area a poor and unkempt look.
The Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association along with Councillor Martin Garner has arranged for an officer from the council who deals with environmental crime issues to attend the S.A.G.E. Public Annual General Meeting, which is to be held next month.
This would be a good time for residents to come along to the meeting so they can get their point across to try and stop this antisocial activity.
A note of warning to Stoke locals, due to a recent two-week break I missed our local council waste collections, so I ended up using a man and the van rubbish clearance service I found on Facebook, it cost me £35 and the damn guy fly tipped the waste. I ended up going to court and being fined as it was my fault for not making sure the guy was a registered waste carrier. I urge anyone wishing to have waste removed to check that the company you hire has a waste carriers licence issued by the UK environment agency. You can check to see if a business is registered here https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers
Also check to see if they are registered with AFTA, the anti fly-tipping association which you can check here https://www.afta.org.uk/
Last thing you want to do is be taken to court and prosecuted and end up with a criminal record. Be very wary when hiring these man and van type services to clear your waste.
