High Street Vehicle Accident Causes Concern

A three car crash on Saturday has again caused concern for residents who live on the High Street between Sandyford and Goldenhill.

It has been reported that 2 people were trapped in a taxi, which was involved in the accident near to Maureen Avenue.

The two injured parties were rushed to the nearby Royal Stoke Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

Residents are calling for traffic calming measures to be introduced along the A50 High Street.

Tom Simpson, Secretary of Sandyford and Goldenhill Residents Association, is calling for police to carry out a traffic survey in High Street.

He said: “As a group we have raised the issue of speeding with the police in the past because High Street is a main road. It’s very busy because it’s used by people going to and from the A500.

“I’d like to see a traffic survey carried out, including the use of police speed camera vans because it is an issue that we are aware of. I would also like to see radar speed signs installed to warn people of their speed because I don’t think a lot of people actually realise how fast they’re going.”
