1960’s High Street Sandyford

Pictured below is High Street, Sandyford looking north to Goldenhill where you can see St Joseph’s Catholic Church in the far distance.

To the right of the picture you can just see the former Salt & Riley’s Builders Yard, and directly to the left the garage where the Cleveland petrol sign is positioned.

What is more striking about the picture is to see how there were fewer vehicles on the A50 road between Tunstall and Kidsgrove.

The two cars pictured to the left are the Mark 1 Ford Cortina and Ford Prefect, and to the right the very popular mini.
