Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association has contacted Stoke on Trent City Council in regards to the state of the fishing pool at Mobberley Road, Goldenhill. Residents have shared their concerns for some time as they believe the pool is not being looked after, especially with it being overgrown with rheads and weeds. The pool which is owned by the council, and is believed to be rented out to a private fishing club, should have some responsibility in maintaining it to a reasonable standard and that is why the council have been contacted. David Williams MP has written to the Leader of the Council, Jane Ashworth, requesting that Stoke-on-Trent City Council holds targeted drop-in sessions in areas like Sandyford. The MP believes that in-person consultations, on the ground and in the community, will help the local authority best understand residents views. David Williams emphasises –“I do not believe development should proceed at any cost. It must be done in the right way – serving the best interests of local residents and contributing positively to the wider community.” He said he hopes that “the final Local Plan will be a real blueprint for success: reviving our town centres, restoring buildings that have been left to rot, and regenerating empty brownfield sites that have blighted our communities for decades.”
The next Sandyford & Goldenhill Public Meeting is being held on Thursday 11th September. We have agreed the attendance of Port Vale F.C. Council Highways, Ward Councillor Chandra Kanneganti & Staffordshire Police. In this stage of their development as a road user, young people find themselves at greater risk as they start to travel more independently. Issues surrounding peer pressure and risk-taking start to appear which is why it’s important you talk to your child about road safety. No matter how your child plans to travel to school there are a few things to discuss before they start travelling independently. The Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership has developed a guide for parents and carers to help you prepare your child. A 54-year-old man, from the Leek area, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of conspiring to supply a class A drug; cocaine. He has since been released on bail. The 54-year-old man has been released with no further action to be taken. The arrests are the latest in a major and organised crime department’s (MOCD) ongoing focus on disrupting drugs lines in Staffordshire. To date, a total of six people have been convicted in the last eight months, as they have continued to tackle the illegal supply of class A drugs in response to community intelligence and information. Detective Chief Inspector Ian Fitzgerald, of the MOCD team, said: “We are determined to crack down on the supply of these illegal substances in Staffordshire and will do all we can to apprehend those involved.” To report crime in your area, call the police on 101, use Livechat on their website, or call 999 in an emergency. Local residents, including those who ride motorbikes have shared concerns of a road surface on Hollywall Lane, Sandyford where the bend is, which has a long and wide engraved scrape along its surface. Residents commented, it is very dangerous, especially when it unstabilises bikes when turning the corner. The road damage occurred when an oil spillage or white paint spill took place, and the council were responsible for removing it, which they did and taking some of the road surface with it. Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association, along with Councillor Kanneganti first reported this in December 2024, and after pressing for its urgent repair are pleased to announce it will be taking place for 2 days from the 31st August. |
