Today Tom Simpson on behalf of Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association and Councillor Chandra Kanneganti met up with Councillor Carl Edwards, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Ass’t Director Carol Gibbs to discuss the ongoing percentage issue for tree purchase/plant against a 30 year maintenance programme.
Originally the council said a 2/3 maintenance programme was required where Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association said a 50/50 split was a more realistic approach.
It is good to report that Jon Rouse, Council Director confirmed his support to a new percentage split of 50% to purchase/plant trees and the remaining 50% to maintain them over a 30 year period to which the residents association agreed. It was also reported that tree planting will be taking place before the end of March 2023.
The residents association would like to take this opportunity of thanking the aforementioned officers for their support in the matter, along with Councillor Kanneganti, and also Jonathan Gullis and his team for arranging meetings and pressuring the council to look at the situation again.
