Ditch The Blade

Over the next couple of weeks, Staffordshire Police will be promoting Ditch the Blade campaign, to raise awareness around the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife. By discussing this topic as a community, we can show our young people that carrying a knife is not the answer.

Carrying a knife isn’t common, its a thought that 99% of young people don’t but those that choose to carry are putting themselves in greater danger, as their knife can be used against them.

To reduce the number of knives on the streets we work together with partner organisations to educate young people about the dangers and encourage them to Ditch the Blade. Alongside this we also use the intelligence-log deployments, weapons sweeps and high-visiblity patrols to target and disrupt offenders who carry and use knives.

A knife amnesty bin is located at Hanley Fire and Police Station (any time) and you can use this completely anonymously without repercussions.

If you’re dropping off a knife at a knife bank, please make sure its suitably wrapped and secure for your journey. If you don’t live close to location, you can also dispose of knives at your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre (tip).
