Respect Day Makes a “Big Difference”

Community Payback do their bit for Goldenhill

Today is the day that Goldenhill got the respect it much needed. Everyone from all walks of life came together to join forces in making Goldenhill a much better place to live in.

Stoke on Trent City Council, Community Payback, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire Service, Street Pastors, Councillor Martin Garner & the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association all played their part in bettering the environment for us all to enjoy.

Skips across the area were full by the end of the day, litter and fly tipping waste was removed, hedges cut, advice and support was given to residents by all three local authority agencies, as well as free cheese & oatcakes, tea & coffee was given to workers and visitors who came to the community centre.

Elgood Lane Car Park before it's recent makeover

The Elgood Lane Community Car Park has been cleaned up at the rear and side of the plot by Community Payback and grassed over by the City Council. Funding to make the car park more respectable has been paid for out of ward budget money from Councillor Garner and the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association, also Stoke on Trent City Council offered the manpower to turf the area free of charge for the “Respect Day” good will gesture.

A special thank you must go to the man who has put a lot of effort in making the “Respect Day” the success it has been and that is Bill James, Respect Lead for the City Council.

Everyone who has done their bit today must have a pat on the back, what would we have done without you.

Remember, if anyone would like to join the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.) and make a difference to their community just like today, then contact us through the website on the “contact us” tab at the top of the page.

Fraudulent Television Sales

The sale of “new” televisions from the back of cars or vans on car parks have caught more than a few people out recently and that’s just the onees Staffordshire Police know of, it doesn’t include those who feel foolish having been duped and not contacted the police for that reason. Several people are currently on bail having been arrested for fraud by false representation for these offences.

Staffordshire Police have asked S.A.G.E. to remind residents that ultimately if a deal seems too good to be true then it usually is.

Please remember the police are on hand to give free advice to anyone who may need it.
