PRIDE IN OUR CITY
We want to make Stoke on Trent an even greater place to live and for people to have pride in our city. With this in mind we will be holding a Respect Day in your area on MONDAY 14th OCTOBER with the aim of making your area a cleaner and safer place for everyone to live, work and play.
UNWANTED RUBBISH?
A free skip service is available for all residents giving you the opportunity to help make the local area tidier. The skips will be available between 9am and 2p.m. and located on:-
- Albany Street
- Peakdale Avenue
- Lewisham Drive

- Shannon Drive
- Ancaster Street
- Brakespere Street
- Kidsgrove Road, adjacent to Goldenhill WMC
- Kidsgrove Road on the grass opposite Gilbert Street
- Andrew Street junction Golf Links Close
- Charlotte Street junction Andrew Street
- Taylor Street junction Collinson Road
- Collinson Road (opposite end)
If you have bulky household items that you think are too good to put in the skip, ring the Furniture Mine on 01782 846111. They will advise you as to whether they they can take it off your hands, free of charge.
MOST IMPORTANT
Whilst it is your responsibility to take your waste to the skips and load them, there will be a team of volunteers to assist the elderly and infirm with fetching and carrying bulky waste to skips.
When the skips are full they will be removed and not replaced. Under no circumstances must you pile rubbish up at the side of skips.
Anyone who doesn’t follow this guidance and leaves waste in alleyways or on pavements may be liable to prosecution. Environmental Crime Officers will be working in the area. We will not accept: Asbestos, Gas cylinders/bottles, Car batteries, Paint tins (with paint in), Large amounts of rubble, Fluorescent tubes & Tyres.

There have been a number of incidents regarding fake bank notes being used to pay for items in Stoke on Trent.

 Sandyford Community Fire Station
Further to the dispute between Central Government and the Fire Brigades Union; Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service is urging people to take extra care on the roads and to be extra vigilant in the home and in business premises, following the announcement by the Fire Brigade Union that its members will take industrial action on 25th September 2013 between 12.00 midnight and 4.00 p.m.
Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service has contingency plans in place to provide emergency response and is working hard to keep people safe during this time.
Householders should take extra care, it is important to have working smoke alarms and that in the event of a fire the essential message is GET OUT, STAY OUT AND CALL 999 – you will get an emergency response.
On Tuesday 10th September, the padlock off a shed on SNEYD PLACE, SANDYFORD was forced off and a bike stolen from inside. This was later discovered in a neighbouring garden. Nothing was seen or heard.
Anyone with any information regarding this is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting 148 of 10th September.
On Tuesday 10th September, two white males forced their way into a garage on HOLLYWALL LANE, SANDYFORD. Fortunately they were disturbed and made off empty handed. One male is described as 18-20 years old 5′ 5″ slim with short brown hair wearing a blue jumper with a white stripe on the arm. The second male was very similar with glasses and dark clothing.
Anyone with information regarding this is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting 9 of 10th September.
Between 19:00 Wednesday 11th – 7:30 Thursday 12th September, the lock and door of a garage on BIRCHALL AVENUE, SANDYFORD were forced open but nothing stolen from inside. Nothing was seen or heard.
Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting 160 of 12th September. You should report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
S.A.G.E. stresses that extra security is needed by residents when securing property in sheds and garages. Chief Inspector Adrian Roberts reported at the Sandyford & Goldenhill Public Meeting last night that residents can contact their local police to get advice on what security is approprate to individual needs. PLEASE USE THIS FREE ADVICE FROM STAFFORDSHIRE POLICE.
Police Chief Inspector Adrian Roberts is to attend the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Public Meeting on Thursday 12th September at Goldenhill Community Centre, 7.30 p.m.
This is a chance for the general public to listen to what the Police have to say and for residents to have the opportunity to ask questions in regards to general policing issues.
It is often being reported of thefts and burglaries that are happening in the area but the police do reassure residents that Sandyford and Goldenhill is one of the safest places to live within the city of Stoke on Trent.
Also attending the meeting will be Mohammed Pervez, Leader of Stoke on Trent City Council, Councillor Martin Garner and Dominic Gratty who deals with fly tipping and litter issues for the City Council.
Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting and there will be free food on offer, and the usual free prize draw of nearly 30 prizes, including whisky, wine, McDonald’s meal vouchers and Dimensions family swimming vouchers worth £20 each.
The public bar will also be open for alcoholic purchases, so please come along to the meeting where we will look forward to seeing you there.
Between 1.00 p.m. & 5.00 p.m. on Sarurday 31st August, a 4 year old black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrior was stolen from the secure back garden of a property on HOLLYWALL LANE, SANDYFORD.
The dog has a black fabric collar but no name tag. Nothing was seen or heard but the back gate was found open and the dog missing.
Anyone with further information regarding this incident is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting 273 of 2nd September.
To report a problem with the road, pavement, footway or verge, you are being asked by Stoke on Trent City Council to report it immediately to them.
This is a chance for residents across the City of Stoke on Trent, and especially for the people who walk and drive regularly around Sandyford and Goldenhill to exercise their right and do something about it.

Sarah Bonam, Project Manager for “Letting in the Light” is keen for local residents to be involved in collecting wishes to be sealed into a piece of public art, which is due to be installed at Goldendale in the next couple of months.
Sarah has contacted the S.A.G.E. website in hope that local residents can complete the remaining 500 messages to go inside this new community sculpture.
The “180,000 piece of artwork designed by Nottingham based artist Wolfgang Buttress is set to dominate the Stoke on Trent skyline; the 20 metre (65ft) high steel sculpture, known as Golden will be installed on the old Goldendale East Steel Works in the Chatterley Valley.
