Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.) held a committee meeting on Tuesday to discuss changes to the Goldenhill & Sandyford Ward, which the Boundary Commission have proposed in a draft document.
Four streets in Tunstall (Hardy Street, Smithchild Street, Newfield Street & Bond Street) as well as Adams Avenue, both sides of High Street leading from Summerbank Road/474 High Street to the KFC Roundabout and James Brindley Way is suggested to be moved into the Tunstall Ward.
Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association voted to oppose the proposed changes, except for four streets in Tunstall (Hardy Street, Smithchild Street, Newfield Street & Bond Street), which already come under the Goldenhill & Sandyford Ward, and agree should move back into the Tunstall boundary, but the remainder should stay within the area of Sandyford.
The S.A.G.E. committee strongly oppose plans to split up parts of Sandyford between two wards, and have informed the Government’s Boundary Commission that we feel any such decision to do this is unacceptable.
The Boundary Commission have been advised as a long standing residents association since 1999 that we trust they are able to address our concerns and keep to the Goldenhill & Sandyford boundary.
Councillor Chandra Kanneganti is aware of the residents association opposition to the proposed changes, and fully supports S.A.G.E. to keep Sandyford together within his ward boundary.
If you would like to support the action being taken by Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association then please follow the link https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk/
Residents are encouraged to attend a free first aid workshop to help save lives.
The course will help you to learn basic CPR and the use of a defibrillator that could also save a life.
