A leaflet has been distributed to residents in the Sandyford & Goldenhill area confirming that Lucy Kelly will be the Labour Party Candidate for Goldenhill & Sandyford at next year’s local council elections, instead of Martin Garner who is standing down after representing the ward for two terms.
Within the leaflet it states that Lucy Kelly “is a member of Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.)” which is being interpreted that she is a representative on the committee.
The residents association can confirm that Lucy Kelly is a resident of Sandyford and not a S.A.G.E. committee member.
Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association is a non-political organisation that is non-bias to election candidates and political parties.
 Pictured – Land of former Goldenhill Golf Course Stoke on Trent City Council is reporting that it is in the final stages of negotiations with a preferred purchaser who is proposing to turn land at Goldenhill back into a golf course again.
The Council’s Estate Team are hopeful a report can go to the Operational Business Management Meeting this month where a decision can be made for final approval of the scheme.
Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.), along with local residents have been calling out for many year’s for something good to happen to the land, especially when the area has been blighted with off road bikers, fly tipping and Travellers who have regularly visited the site.
 Warehouse Operative is required at Q-railing who are to move their U.K. Company Headquarters to Sandyford.

Ideally, the company are looking for someone with warehouse experience (picking/packing/scanning/system entry etc.). Forklift truck trained would also be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.
However, a good honest, reliable, quick learning, hard working person would also be of interest, as training will be provided.

 “Red Line Route” which is a possibility on High Street, Sandyford A public consultation is planned to discuss the proposed expantion of Stoke on Trent City Council’s “Red Route Scheme” to cover other parts of the city.
The red route proposals could see routes introduced on:
- Waterloo Road (A50) from Vale Place (Hanley) to Swan Square (Burslem)
- Scotia Road (A50) from Market Place (Burslem) to Haymarket (Tunstall), Williamson Street (Tunstall) & High Street (Sandyford)
- Longton town centre, including The Strand, Commerce Street, Market Street, Transport Lane & King Street from Victoria Place (Fenton) to Longton
- City Road, from Leek Road (Stoke) to Victoria Place (Fenton) & Victoria Road (A50) from Victoria Place (Fenton) to Dewsbury Road (Fenton)
- Stoke Town centre, including Church Street, Londsdale Street, Fleming Road, Campbell Place, Hartshill Road & Shelton Old Road
- University Quarter, including Leek Road, from Joiners Square to City Road (Stoke), College Road from Avenue Road to Station Road (Stoke) & Station Road
The City Council say their reasoning behind the proposals is to tackle congestion and inconsiderate parking as well as to improve road safety and keep the city moving.
Stoke on Trent City Council say that red routes – given the name because of the painted red lines – prevent drivers from stopping at any time but can still allow for loading and unloading in designated bays, as well as disabled parking. Hackney carriage vehicles can drop off and pick up passengers, and the driver of a vehicle with a blue badge can also pick up or drop off a disabled person. The restrictions are enforced by CCTV along the routes.
If the proposals are approved then special cameras will be set up to catch those motorists flouting the new regulations, who will then face £70 penalty fines.
Concerns to the idea are that some businesses rely on passing trade, and would be in a position of losing business. Other comments are that there are no real problems with parking, it is just another way of the council trying to make money out of the situation.
People are able to view the plans in more detail and have their say between 1pm and 7pm on the following dates:
- Thursday, October 4: Floral Hall, Queens Avenue, Tunstall
- Tuesday, October 9: Copeland Room, Stoke Town Hall
- Thursday, October 11: Fenton Spiritualist Church, King Street
- Tuesday, October 16: Swan Bank Methodist Church, Burslem

 Tunstall Arrow’s Sandyford Development Simon Peters, Development Director (Network Space) was invited to guest speak at the Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.) Public Meeting held at Goldenhill Community Centre earlier this week.
Mr Peters talked about the completion of five high quality industrial units (pictured right), and the siting of the units being convenient to the A500 (D Road) and motorway network.
The Development Director reported that 4 out of the 5 units are now let, and it is an exceptional result, adding that the strength of industrial business in Stoke is good.
At the meeting it was said that Network Space is pleased with the Construction Company (Caddick), and also adding that the development could not have happened without council support (Ceramic Valley Project), which enabled them to get funding to make it happen.
Residents were informed that the tenants who would be occupying the units are international companies coming to Sandyford which are.

Boels Rental, (Portable Machine & Tool Rental), Netherlands Company

Mr Peters also mentioned that another German Company is looking to move to Sandyford by leasing the last remaining unit.
Residents were also informed that there will be a phase 2 & 3 to come to the area with 15 year leases in place, adding it is great to see a former industrial site coming back into use.
Residents Public Meeting Information
 Network Space Development Director is to give an update on Sandyford’s new Business Development on James Brindley Way, (pictured right) at the next Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Public Meeting on Thursday 13th September, 7.30 p.m. at Goldenhill Community Hall/Centre.
The five units which will form part of the Ceramic Valley Enterprise are now built, with Q-Railing taking residence in the largest unit.
S.A.G.E. has been advised that discussions are taking place to offer tenancy to other companies who are interested in coming to the Sandyford site.
Network Space discussed the new development proposals when guest speaking at the S.A.G.E. public meeting back in January 2017, which was welcomed by residents. The developer has said they are more than willing to come along again to meet local people and give them a promising update on how the project is moving forward.
 Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.) attracts hundreds of visitors to its Annual Goldenhill Fun Day last Saturday which first started in 2007.
This year the event introduced the “Total Wipeout” activity as well as having the City Council’s “Red Road Train” pictured right, which took visitors around Goldenhill and taking in views across to Newchapel and Mow Cop Castle.
Event organisers invited Lisa Hamlett, McDonald’s Area Manager to officially open the day. Tom Simpson, Secretary of S.A.G.E. and Lisa shared positive comments on how both organisations have complemented each other to better the environment, and help support residents in the communities of Sandyford & Goldenhill.

This year the event again attracted 30 plus Table Top Market Street Stalls, which were all undercover, and gave the occasion that special purchasing/browsing opportunity that shoppers enjoy.

 This year’s Goldenhill Fun Day will have it’s very own “Road Train” which will be driving around the streets and roads of Sandyford and Goldenhill. The train will regularly stop to collect and drop off people at the event with a small charge for those who would like to use the facility.
The “Road Train” resembles the old steam locomotive, so why not come to the “Fun Day” and have yourself a ride of a lifetime by train tracking throughout the villages of Sandyford and Goldenhill.
