As Warehouse Operative you will be responsible for picking and packing animal feed within a large warehouse environment within a small team of 15. You will be using RF Guns to pick the items ready to be packed through to dispatch to customers. We are keen to hear from applicants with some previous picking or packing experience within a warehouse environment with good numeracy and literacy skills. Goldenhill & Sandyford Christmas Tree Light Switch On

On Saturday 4th December the Christmas Tree light switch on took place in the grounds of St Joseph’s Church on Goldenhill’s High Street.

Lord Mayor of Stoke on Trent, Councillor Chandra Kanneganti who is also the local G.P. officially turned on the tree lights along with members of Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association as well as residents from the local community.

The weather on the evening was that of Christmas spirit, having wintery showers consisting of a combination of sleet, snow and blustery winds. The people who attended were not put off by the weather where everyone enjoyed the opportunity to bring Christmas to our community.

Special thanks do go to Chandra Kanneganti for using some of his ward budget money to make Christmas that little bit special in times when everyone needs that extra special lift.

Walkers Braving the Snow

Three walkers from the “Walking Group of Friends” bravely taking on their weekly walk to socialise as well as keeping active with regular exercise.

Pictured left to right is Alan, Tony and Geoff who along with other group members each week receive a free healthy snack and drink from Sandyford McDonald’s at the end of the walk.

Everyone is welcome to join the group who meet outside the One Stop Shop, Shelford Road/High Street, Sandyford every Sunday at 2.00 p.m.

43 Weeks To Complete New Business Development

Network Space Phase 2 Development

Construction work is to start on Monday 8th November for the next 43 weeks on the phase 2 development on Sandyford’s James Brindley Way, which will include the building of 5 industrial units.

Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (SAGE) has been in talks with the contractor Caddick in regards to noise reduction during the construction, which they have confirmed as follows. Non-noisy work start time – 7.30am, Noisy works involving plant start time – 8am, Site finishing time – 5pm, No weekend works planned at present. The contractor states they trust the development will be completed with the minimum of inconvenience to residents.

The works will consist of ground stabilisation including piling, concrete pad foundations, steel frame, cladded façade, windows, warehouse sectional doors, toilets to ground and 1st floor, 1st floor office space, car parking and concrete service yard turning circle, new statutory services and a new drainage layout.

The development should have a completion date of around 5th September 2022, and the contractor has agreed to keep residents updated on progress throughout the programme of works.

It is good to know the contractor has listened to the residents association’s concerns from phase 1 by keeping the noisy work down from 7.00am previous to 8.00am now as well as no planned weekend work, which caused much distress to local people.

The positive side to this disruption is the opportunity of more employment coming to Sandyford and Stoke on Trent as a whole.

Congleton’s Henshall Hall Has Ties With Sandyford

Henshall Hall was once owned by Stuart Johnson who also owned Johnson’s Potteries in Tunstall as well as later in Sandyford.

The ties linked in from a stately home in Congleton to Sandyford is due to Stuart Johnson having properties built in Sandyford, and him naming Henshall Place after the residence he owned back in Cheshire.

This piece of history links anyone living in Henshall Place to Stuart Johnson wanting some of his grandeur back into Stoke on Trent and especially Sandyford, unfortunately the hall was demolished back in 1975 after suffering severe fire damage.
