During November and December, Stoke on Trent City Council are working with Kier Stoke to change the logo on all of the vehicles used by repairs staff.
This means if you need a repair to your home, the people who come to do your repair may be wearing a Kier uniform and carrying Kier ID badges, but driving a Unitas Stoke-on-Trent Ltd van.
The council wanted to tell you about this change as you may be concerned if someone come to your house in one uniform but the van belongs to a different company.
There is nothing to be worried about. The changes are being made now to make sure all the repairs vehicles are correctly marked when Unitas starts delivering the repairs service in February.
If you have any concerns about the people who come to you home to complete repairs, ask them to remain outside the property and call the repairs line on 01782 234100. Staff there will be able to confirm the identity of all of our repairs staff.
If you prefer, you can set up a password system when you report the repair. With the password system, anyone who visits your home to complete a repair will then know to give you the password that you have chosen to confirm that they are genuine.
Overall crime has decreased in the area against an 18% increase across the county as reported by Staffordshire Police.

Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association has been in contact with Network Space who are developing land on James Brindley Way, Sandyford in regards to construction noise, which has been disturbing residents in the area.
Network Space have expressed that they fully appreciate the level of noise recently from the site has been quite a disturbance for people living nearby. The company further commented that it is fortunately a short term remediation stage in the development and the noise level should reduce by the end of next week when compaction and piling work is completed. The company went onto say that this should conclude the noisy work that residents have been understandably complaining about.
The contractor “Caddick” has confirmed that they are presently restricting this work to within the hours of 8.00am to 5:30 pm weekdays, and due to complaints and in consideration of local residents the contractor is avoiding undertaking further noisy work at weekends for the foreseeable future.
It was further reported that the contractor has been liaising with the Environmental Health Officer in the area and they assure they will continue to minimise any disruption wherever possible.
Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association (S.A.G.E.) would like to reassure residents that Network Space has liaised with them from the start of the project, and they have listened to any issues put before them and when in a position to do so have addressed the problem.
S.A.G.E. would like to remind residents that once the Sandyford development is completed and buildings become occupied that it will help to regenerate the Sandyford/Goldenhill locality and hopefully bring better employment prospects to our area.
Young people and adults looking to take the next step in their education, training or employment can get all the help they need under one roof at an event later this month.

The event, organised by Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s employment and skills careers team, will offer the perfect chance for people to find out more about opportunities available, and potentially walk away with an interview.
Taking place between 1pm and 5pm, some of the employers and organisations set to take part in the event include: Stoke-on-Trent College, Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College, Newcastle-under-Lyme College, Staffordshire University, Keele University and Angard, the dedicated recruitment partner for Royal Mail.

Old Church School Building in it's present overgrown state
A planning application has been submitted by Landstone Homes to Stoke on Trent City Council to have the “Old Church School” at Elgood Lane demolished.
The building pictured right has become a blot on the landscape, and local residents along with Sandyford & Goldenhill Residents Association and Councillor Martin Garner have welcomed the application to have the building removed.
The building in recent year’s has been prone to a number of arson attacks, and it is now proving very dangerous, especially when young children and teenagers are gaining access to the building.
A decision by Stoke on Trent City Council is due to be made in the next few weeks in regards to the future of the building.
